It's January 1, 2018! After only a little over three years of working on this project, I have an active blog. It's a testimony to guilt, perseverance, and the computer savy of friends and family. Thanks for visiting. I'll be sharing more personal information with readers that they will find in my weekly column, "Mother Lode", in the Advance Newspaper.  Here's the link to the December 31 column, which reveals a little about my husband's childhood:

Stay warm, and come back soon!

Greeting`s Cathy Runyon from Tennessee.Congratulations on so many years with the ADVANCE.I retired in 1997 from NABISCO in Grand Rapids after 38 years delvering crackers & cookies from near Indiana to Mackinaw city and got to know so many fine folks.I remember reading the ADVANCE when I lived in Kentwood.I guess you also see the"handwriting on the wall" that with the advancement in social media, smart phones, newspapers, magazines are not as popular as years ago.I wish you many more years of good health so you can enjoy your retirement.Maybe you have plans to travel? My wife & I sold our home after I moved to the Chattanoog area n 2005 just before the housing crash and lived as full timers in our motorhome and enjoyed seeing the 48 states. My wife worked for almost 25 years as a Floral designer for Eastern Floral in Grand Rapids.God bless you,Roger Groot,Cleveland,Tennessee.

Roger, congratulations on being the first to comment on the new blog. I'm still struggling with getting updates to publish. I hope you will come back to the site again.

Hi Cathy, my heart broke reading the January 27 Advance. I've enjoyed your rich wisdoms, wit and basically exploring your view of the world for a lot of years. If you are game enough to try writing a blog, then I, at 70, will attempt to learn the process accessing it! Would hate to lose your kindly touch on my life. Didn't realize that your writing was present in so much of that delightful little paper. I used to see Jeff Cunningham around Coopersville a lot, we nicknamed him "Smart Pig," around the Coopersville Farm Museum, but he moved on from the Advance. Hang in there, and may your new phase bless you with a new title, maybe "Queen of Cyberspace?" Love, MaryM
